.job file

The binary Task Scheduler 1.0 task format stored in C:\Windows\Tasks, specified by Microsoft in MS-TSCH.

A .job file describes one legacy scheduled task. Microsoft specifies the format in MS-TSCH: a 68-byte fixed section with versions, job UUID, priority, status, flags and a last run time stored as a SYSTEMTIME, then a variable section with the command, parameters, working directory, author, comment and triggers.

.job files were the main task store up to Windows XP and Server 2003 and are uncommon on modern Windows, which makes a new one worth explaining. See .job file forensics.
